Believe it or not, PNP, in general, has become a sleepy beat. Except for occasional crime stories, there are no other ways I could send some really readable stories. It’s always been a slow news day–although this is a good thing in times when you feel lazy. But I don’t like it that way, all the time, obviously.
I try making rounds in Camp Crame, as I did in the past, only to go back to the press office empty-handed. It’s been like that since January 2008 (or should I say late last year, after the Manila Peninsula). And I’ve been VERY VERY ashamed of not being able to produce earth-shaking stories. Good thing, there were former Comelec Chairman Abalos and Jejomar Binay–at least I have something to write about aside from PNP.
Hmm. Yes, there are inspection stories. There was also the Jun Lozada abduction, which was a really hard slap on Director General Avelino Razon’s face (poor guy, I must say. I bet it’s really hard not to obey Madame ). There was the RCBC robbery, which–I’m afraid–is losing readers’ interest because PNP seemingly is playing it all up, after the Tanauan “rub-out.” As much as I want to keep the readers’ eyes on this news, I can’t get anything to spice it up now. Good thing I recently gathered leads on the suspects. BUT THAT WOULD HAVE TO WAIT BECAUSE I COULD NOT PREEMPT POLICE OPERATIONS. URGH.
Anyway, I also observed left-leaning groups have been silent lately. Or was it just me who’s out of the circle? Really, I haven’t heard much from them since the labor day and the May 11 transport strike, and some reactions on the power crisis. Was that silence a manifestation of the seemingly dying clamor for truth (I hope not)? Or are they just preparing themselves for a bigger war, waiting to explode at the right time, right place?
I’m typing non-sense now. I’ll end it here.
